Good Luck David Turnbull

The school would like to wish David Turnbull and his Motherwell U20 team the best of luck as they take on Hearts in the Little Big Shot Youth (Under 20) Cup Final at Hampden Park on Wednesday 27th April and kick-off is 7.30pm. Entry will be via cash gates on the night, with prices set at £5 for adults and £2 for children. It is Motherwell’s first Youth Cup Final in almost 30 years. Written by Mr McGilp.

Metaphrog Visit Coltness High School

Metaphrog are John Chalmers and Sandra Marr. John is from Scotland and Sandra is originally from France. Together, they have been creating comics and graphic novels since 1996. The visit was arranged for all first year pupils’ and they enjoyed listening to how the duo’s career began, starting with their first comic, Strange Weather Lately. Their presentation moved on to show how they worked together as a team to create their Louis series of graphic novels and their latest one, The Red Shoes and Other Tales. Just a reminder that meal prices will go up as of Monday 18th April from £1.80 to £1.90 and also that parents can now make online payments to pupil’s lunch smart cards. Political Literacy Event

All senior pupils took part in a Political Literacy event ‘Why young people should vote’? This involved pupils taking part in topical debates surrounding key issues that effect and will impact on young people, the pupils then took part in debating the importance of having political representation in parliament for young people. This event was also aimed at encouraging all young people to register to vote. S1 pupils will be going on a Social Subjects trip to Edinburgh Dungeons, Dynamic Earth & Edinburgh Castle in June this year. This year the Social Subject department will be visiting Belgium & France on the Battlefield Tour, the pupils will be laying wreaths in honour of the men from the local community who fought and died

Jesus Christ Superstar

                    This week the Shine musical theatre group from Carluke have been performing “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Motherwell Civic Centre. The show is the modern adaptation and was wonderfully performed by an array of talented individuals from schools across North and South Lanarkshire. The two leads however have a connection with Coltness High School with former pupil Scott Fleming playing the main role of Jesus in his usual fantastic and charismatic manner. The show however was stolen by Judas played by current pupil Scott Reid who was absolutely and utterly fantastic in the role!
