Duke of Edinburgh’s Award update

The practice expedition on 22nd and 23rd June has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. At the moment we are still hoping to go ahead with the final expedition on Sat 29th – Sun 30th August 2020. We are working on replacement dates for a practice expedition. If it’s possible and safe to do so, please continue working on your sections. We understand that many activities will not be available just now, but don’t worry. New direct payment system for free school meals

It will start on Friday 27 March and run throughout the current health crisis. Parents and carers of pupils who receive free school meals will be sent a message twice a week from the council. It will include a voucher code for £10.00 (you will receive a total of £20.00 per child per week). PE Department Announce Fantasy Football Competition

In partnership with Joma Sport, the PE Department are launching a Fantasy Football Team Competition. The competition is open to all current S1 – S6 pupils. Details on how to enter are in the PE pages on this site. Simply download the word doc PRIZES!! For your chance to win a kit bag, trainers, tracksuit and a ball, use your football knowledge to guess the 11 players. The competition is the first of 15 challenges set by the PE Dept. Reading List for 14yr old

So I asked our librarian for a few reading suggestions for my 14 yr old son, so he has some screen time breaks. I got this fantastic reply from our very capable Librarian. Hi Sean All Robert Muchamore’s and Anthony Horrowitz books are popular if they like adventure type things, especially the Alex Rider series. If they like Zombies and horror he can’t go wrong with Darren Shan. These are all good authors as they do long series and should keep your son going. I read a whole series by Will Hill that was really good about vampires but definitely not lovey dovey stuff. I loved it. The good old basics for the last few years like the Gone Series, The Maze Runner

Update – School Closure

Parents and carers are advised that North Lanarkshire Council Communications team are preparing to release information as soon as possible through its normal communication channels regarding the closure of schools to pupils from today.  This will include ·        Arrangements for children of key workers (including clarification of who Key Workers are) ·        Clarfication of arrangements for S4-S6 pupils for SQA accreditation purposes ·        Arrangements for those children requiring free school meals from Monday onwards ·        Arrangements for children with additional support needs fromMonday Further information will be available through your school’s normal communication channels from Monday onwards.
