Hall of Fame – Campbell Rae
Campbell started his rugby career at Stirling County RFC and played all the way through the age groups to the 1st XV. During this time he played for Midlands Schools U15, U18. Glasgow U18. Caledonian Reds U21. Scottish Schools U16. Scotland U18 and U21. In 1998 he signed a professional contract with Fylde RFC in England. In 2000 he started pre-season with Australian side Eastern Suburbs before a serious shoulder injury meant that he was out of Rugby for 2 years. One positive outcome of the injury was being in the right place at the right time to work at the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he worked as an assisstant manger at the Beach Volleyball in Bondi Beach. Pupils get fit for arctic expedition

NLL supports trip of a lifetime to Greenland A group of pupils from Wishaw are training hard for an expedition to arctic Greenland, with the help of North Lanarkshire Leisure. The adventurers, aged 14 to 18 years old, have been given free membership of local gyms to ensure they are in peak physique for the trip, which will see them trek up to 10km a day while pulling their own equipment along an ancient Inuit trail. During the October break, 19 pupils from the two schools spent a week at the sportscotland outdoor learning centre, Glenmore Lodge in Aviemore, beginning their training for the Polar Academy. 19 pupils from St Aidan’s High School and Coltness High School travelled to Sportscotland Glenmore Lodge in Aviemore during the October week. These pupils are all part of the Polar Academy, which is an initiative founded by explorer Craig Mathieson. This group is split in to two teams, the Expedition Team who will be trekking to the Arctic circle next April to explore some of the most remote places in Greenland. Whereas the Leadership Team, as well as being reserves for the expedition, will be delivering outdoor activities to schools across North Lanarkshire.
