GOOD TEACHING & LEARNING ALERTS We feel part of Coltness High School CHRISTMAS CHARITY FUNDRAISING The main charities we are supporting at Christmas this year are the Shoebox Appeal postage and the Basics Foodbank in Wishaw. WEDNESDAY 21ST DECEMBER – CHRISTMAS THEME “DRESS DOWN” DAY On Wednesday 21st December, staff and pupils can come to school wearing Christmas themed items e.g. jumpers, toy antlers, socks for £1.00. for charity. CHURCH SERVICE The Church Service will take place on Thursday 22nd December. The charity collection this year will be for ‘Shelter’.

GOOD LEARNING ALERTS We get the chance to discuss tasks with our neighbour as this helps our understanding and builds our confidence. BARBARIANS ARE BACK!! After a short break the S1 to S4 Barbarians Rugby sessions are back on. S1 to 4 boys and girls are invited to attend rugby training sessions at Dalziel Park, every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:15pm. A free bus will leave the school around 3:45pm and return for 5:30pm. Any new pupils interested in going along please get a consent form from Joanne Cuthbertson, Active Schools Coordinator at lunchtime on Tuesday. All pupils attending please get changed in the PE department and register with Daniel Bartlett and Reid McLean, Rugby Ambassadors. Training sessions take place outside no matter

Dyslexia Awareness Week (7th – 11th November)
The following activities will take place for Dyslexia Awareness Week: Blue ribbons worn by staff and pupils across the school. Through PHSE pupils will be shown a power point and video clip. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a Dyslexia quiz. Some classes will have the opportunity to participate in a ‘No pens lesson’ which will encourage talking and listening rather than reading and writing. All departments will display their new ‘Classroom Friendly Poster’ which has been compiled by Support for Learning and looks at strategies to help pupils with dyslexia throughout lessons and beyond. Support for Learning have also updated the notice boards at the front door with information on Dyslexia and have a presentation being shown through the

GOOD LEARNING ALERTS Everyone is on time and ready to learn together. S1 ASSEMBLY Period 1 Monday 31st October 2016. S4 WORK EXPERIENCE All log book/diaries must be completed and returned to your Pupil Support teacher by 4th November. If you have a competed supervisor’s report please hand that in too. Those pupils who borrowed work boots and/or overalls must return them cleaned/laundered to Miss McAndrew by 4th November. Any pupil intending to claim work experience travel expenses must collect a form from the Pupil Support base and return this, with travel tickets, to Miss McAndrew by 4th November. FIREWORK DISPLAYS There are free fireworks displays throughout North Lanarkshire on Friday 4th November – stay safe if celebrating bonfire night and attend an
