On Thursday 6th of October the school will take part in a Google expedition with all of S1, S2 & S3. This fantastic opportunity is a virtual reality based lesson which sits firmly within the Scottish Governments recently announced “Digital Learning and Teaching Strategy”.
- Expeditions is a new product from Google that allows teachers to take their classes on virtual field trips, immersing students in experiences that bring abstract concepts to life and giving students a deeper understanding of the world beyond the classroom.
- The Wildlife Conservation Society, PBS, the American Museum of Natural History, the Planetary Society, and the Palace of Versailles contributed to developing the curriculum for students.
- These trips are collections of virtual reality panoramas — 360° photo spheres, 3D images and video, ambient sounds — annotated with details, points of interest, and questions that make them easy to integrate into curriculum already used in schools.
Groups of pupils will be extracted from classes throughout the day to participate in a 30-minute lesson with a class teacher. This experience will then be used by teachers in their classes.
