SCOTTISH FA PERFORMANCE SCHOOL OF FOOTBALL

The first of the trials for next year’s intake to the Performance School of Football will take place on the afternoon of Monday 18th February in the school.   Mr Gordon Craig, the Scottish FA coach in charge of the selection, will take charge of the trials and procedures for selection.   Further details are available from the Rector, Mr Hannan at the school.

SCHOOL OF FOOTBALL

Pupils from Braidhurst High, who are involved in the school of football, were recently invited to assist the Scottish FA by attending the coaches examination at Toryglen in Glasgow.   Coaches from several senior clubs were asked to put the players through their paces as senior staff from the Scottish FA watched on.   The players were highly complimented on their skill and behaviour and have been invited back to assist again in February

SCOTTISH CUP – 4TH ROUND

On Friday afternoon the Braidhurst boys under 15 team made yet another away trip, slightly further this time, to Linlithgow Academy.

The deadlock was broken after 30 minutes when Josh Payne broke forward and played an inch perfect through ball from Josh Moore to finish.   This was exactly what Braidhurst needed to settle the nerves.

The remainder of the first half was relatively subdued with neither side having any clear cut chances.

7 minutes into the second half Josh Moore got his second with another close range effort after some one touch passing opened up the Linlithgow defence and allowed Scott Schoneville to cut the ball back.

The game was put well and truly beyond Linlithgow 10 minutes from the end when Braidhurst got their third and final goal.   This time it came from central midfielder Robbie Watson.   It was thoroughly deserved after yet another tireless performance from Robbie.

This result sees Braidhurst into the last 16 where they will take on either North Berwick or Cardinal Newman.   Neither tie will be met with complacency; however, going by this performance Braidhurst should have every confidence in themselves.

PTFA

The members of the Braidhurst High Parents, Teachers and Friends Association recently held a meeting to make plans for their next fund raising event.   They decided to hold a prize Bingo evening on Wednesday 20th March in the school hall.   The members also decided to distribute over £200 to the school for various projects including the trips to London and Paris as well as the Senior Prom.   The Rector Mr Derrick Hannan said, “On behalf of the school I would like to thank the PTFA for their continued support.   The money they raise through various events all goes towards the pupils’ education and we are delighted to accept these monies for various projects”.

Boys’ Brigade Swimming Gala

A group of senior pupils and staff from Braidhurst High Sports Comprehensive recently assisted in the Airdrie, Coatbridge and District Boys’ Brigade swimming gala held in the Sir Matt Busby Centre in Bellshill.   They acted as timers, starter and judge assisting Mr Derrick Hannan the Rector who was in charge of the event.   Mr Hannan commented, “These young people and staff were an absolute credit to the school.   They carried out the various roles with competence and skill.   It was a pleasure to see them act with such maturity in and out of school setting”.
