Tickets for ‘Back to the 80s’ are how on sale from Mrs Hunter at the school. The show will take place on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th June in the school hall. The tickets are priced at £4 for adults and £2 for children.

DUX
Braidhurst High will this year award a joint dux to fifth year pupils Marc Armitage and Gillian Scott. Both have outstanding academic records throughout their five years at the school, including fifth year. Marc came to the school through the Scottish FA School of Football initiative, whereas Gillian is local and is a high performance netball player. The Rector Mr Hannan commented, “This was such a difficult decision with a larger number of highly able candidates than I can remember. It was such a delight to inform the pair and hear them offer each other congratulations”.
The Big Gig
Braidhurst’s very own ‘Don`t Fret’ will be competing in The Big Gig @ Hamilton Accies football stadium on the 10th June 2015.

Scotia Aid in conjunction with Blameless, Hamilton Accies and North Lanarkshire Council are hosting a LIVE band extravaganza! Live bands from Schools in the North Lanarkshire area will compete throughout the evening!
It will take place at New Douglas Park, Hamilton between 3pm and 9pm on Weds 10th June 2015.

SCHOOL SHOW
Braidhurst are proud to performing “Back To The 80’s” for this year’s school show. Set in the USA, Back To The 80’s tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High in the 1980’s. 17 year old Corey is madly in love with Tiffany Houston, one of the coolest girls in the school. However, she is too busy mooning over Michael Feldman, the hottest guy around. Michael and his friends are athletic and good-looking – the kid of guys that Corey and his two best friends dream of being. However, while they may not be the coolest guys in school, they are still one up on Fergal McFerrin, who believes the crazy notion that one day CDs will replace cassette tapes…. The plot follows Class President Elections, the arrival of several new students, and the teachers’ own issues. Throw in a Star Wars dream sequence, high-energy dance routines, the obligatory 80’s party scene, as well as some of the most popular songs ever written and you have a recipe for some outrageous fun.
Pupils have been working hard attending rehearsals and getting their neon t-shirts, leg warmers and crimpers ready to go. As always, we have pupils from S1-S6 participating, with some even playing in the band! They are certainly wearing out their dancing feet and getting into the groove with songs like Kids in America, Footloose and Walking on Sunshine.
PROM
This year’s Prom will again take place in the Popinjay Hotel with a massive attendance of senior pupils and staff in attendance. It will take place on Thursday 4th June with coaches leaving the school at 6.30 pm for a 7 pm arrival. Following photographs, the meal will start at 7.30 pm with coaches leaving the hotel to return to the school at midnight.
REWARD
Pupils in S1/2 recently enjoyed a trip out of school to Laser Quest and McDonalds. Pupils were given the opportunity to attend the trip as they had demonstrated outstanding behaviour and effort, as well as a desire to help their peers and members of staff in PE and SFA football programmes in recent months. Pupils’ progress in other subjects was also taking into account. Pupils were given the opportunity to compete in teams during the laser quest and challenges that they had to complete which tested their resilience, team work and co-operation. All the pupils worked very hard on the trip and thoroughly enjoyed their experience: they were a credit to themselves, their families and the school. I am sure that all the pupils will be able to maintain this current high standard of behaviour and effort as they progress into S2/3. Well done.
P7 VISIT
Primary seven pupils from the associated schools as well as those joining in August through the SFA football programmes will attend Braidhurst High for a curricular day on Thursday 21st May.
