PUPIL SUCCESS – SHARLEEN BRANDT

S6 pupil Sharleen Brandt participated in the Nuffield Researchers programme over summer 2020 which earned her valuable experience in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine) field and will certainly further her ambition to study a scientific degree after school. The programme began in June and was delivered entirely online due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sharleen undertook a block of work experience in psychology where she researched the affect the pandemic had on body image. Under the supervision of her tutor, Corinne Jola from the University of Abertay, Sharleen created a survey and then analysed the results to produce a report and poster demonstrate the data collected.  Sharleen also completed a series of STEM related tasks online all of which aimed to strengthen her interpersonal skills. Sharleen will now participate in the NHS Hospital Life programme which will provide another fantastic opportunity for work experience.
