On Thursday 19th September a group of ten S1 pupils, accompanied by school librarian Mrs. Scott, attended the ‘Read to Succeed’ closing ceremony at St Ambrose High School. Pupils from across North Lanarkshire were brought together to celebrate the importance of reading and the many ways it can positively enhance their future careers.
The event was compered by author Keith Charters and included a keynote speech from Dan Freedman, the author of the highly successful football series ‘Jamie Johnson’, which has been televised for the CBBC channel. At the end of the ceremony each pupil was gifted a signed copy of ‘Born to Play’ by Dan Freedman, from the council’s Learning Hub, and had the opportunity to pose for a group photograph with Dan and their new books.
