Chryston HS 0-9 Braidhurst HS
Braidhurst U15s bounced back from their exit from the Scottish Cup with an outstanding 9-0 victory against Chryston HS in the quarter-finals of the Lanarkshire Cup. The visitors started well and should have been in front when Alastair Small slotted past the keeper, however, the ball was ruled to have not crossed the line. The deadlock was broken soon after when Marley Redfern fired into the net from a Stuart McKinstry corner. Marley then turned provider as a lovely through ball allowed Alastair to get on the scoresheet with a well taken goal. Braidhurst were rampant and ended the half 6-0 up thanks to further goals from Dean Watson, another from Marley, Stuart and Dylan Morrow. In the second half, Tommy Hunter was forced into a couple of saves to ensure his side maintained a clean sheet. Braidhurst’s seventh goal came courtesy of work from the substitutes as Barry Frew crossed for Kyle Laughlin to tap home. A penalty from Dean and a left footed strike from Alastair wrapped up the scoring and rubber stamped their side’s progress into the semi-finals. Mr Clarke and Mr O’Toole were delighted with the result and look forward to the next tie.
