Braidhurst Under 14s started their defence of the Lanarkshire Cup with a 2-1 victory away to Duncanrig High School. The game was played on a very difficult surface which impacted on the quality of football but Braidhurst adapted better than the hosts and were unfortunate not to go in front with chances missed in the first half. Early in the second half their efforts were rewarded through an own goal after good work from Dylan Kerr in the build-up. Dylan Campbell then doubled the visitors lead with a left footed strike that found the back of the net via the post. Duncanrig managed to halve the deficit to ensure a nervy finish to the match but Braidhurst held on to deservedly win the tie. Mr Clarke and Mr O’Toole were delighted to see the boys progress into the Quarter-Finals where they will now face the prospect of yet another away tie.
