Braidhurst pupils, Hannah Gordon and Tony Sharkey, travelled to Hampden Park last week to attend the Youth Ambassadors Conference hosted by Sportscotland, the national agency for sport. The lottery funded programme aims to help develop young people as leaders in sport. Hannah and Tony participated in a series of workshops where they learned how to go about setting up a sports council and also how to help encourage greater pupil attendance at sports clubs within school. After the workshops, Hannah and Tony met several Team GB Olympic medallists from Rio 2016, including, swimmer Robbie Renwick and hurdler Eilidh Doyle. Speaking about the event, Hannah commented, “I felt very inspired after meeting the athletes and hopefully Tony and I can represent the school as sports ambassadors to the best of our abilities.”
