The Education and Culture Committee is undertaking work on the educational attainment gap.

As a first step, the Committee has agreed to hold evidence sessions on the following topics:

• the implications for schools, teachers and pupils of the Commission for Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce;
• the role of the third sector and the private sector in improving attainment for all school pupils, particularly those whose attainment is lowest; and
• how parents (including guardians) and schools can best work together to raise all pupils’ attainment, particularly those whose attainment is lowest.
