Braidhurst High Photography student Sam Davies has gained first place in a national photography competition with his night shot of Glasgow University. The judges thought his photograph was ‘very atmospheric, well composed and dramatic’. The ‘My Place’ photography competition is a built environment photographic project run by the Scottish Civic Trust. It aims to provide young people with the opportunity to express their ideas and experiences on the heritage, buildings and archaeology around them.

There were hundreds of photographs entered for the competition and Sam was extremely pleased to have come first in the secondary schools category. His photograph will appear in exhibitions in over 40 countries as the competition is part of the International Heritage Photographic Experience. The exhibition will be open at the Lighthouse, Glasgow from 28^th March until 7^th May.
