Our Learning Journey

PLAY

Through a wide variety of play activities, we will all endeavour for the children to become confident individuals, successful learners, effective contributors and responsible citizens!

The children will have lots of opportunities to play both indoors and outdoors to develop their learning. Play offers a young child opportunities to explore, experiment, make choices and make mistakes without experiencing a sense of failure or a loss of confidence. Children find play an interesting and enjoyable way to learn. When they are relaxed and absorbed in play they are most likely to show what they have learned, what they can now do and what their next step is likely to be.

Children enjoy playing. It is fun and provides opportunities to build on what they already know, to remember what they have done, and to share thoughts and ideas. Although Play may have an end product, it is the experience itself, the sharing with others and the meaning which is taken from it which has the most value for the child.

Our nursery environment is carefully planned to allow your child to experience the best quality of play possible with the best help and support from our adults.

We are also timetabled to use the gym hall in Newark Primary School. We will encourage them to be independent learners and we will ensure there is a smooth transition into their primary school as we all work closely together with primary staff and share good practice about what we all do in our establishments. We like to have lots of visitors in the Nursery for the children to meet and experience and we will always keep you up to date with what’s going on.
