LISTENING!

Nursery rhymes are a great way to learn early phonic skills. They give children practise in pitch, volume and language rhythm. Children familiar with rhymes recognise that similar sounding words share spelling sequences in the written form, making it easier to develop good reading and writing skills  

  • Listen to other children and adults during social play and activities.
  • Listen with enjoyment and respond to stories, songs, music and rhymes.
  • Pay attention to information and instructions from an adult.
  • Talk to other children or with an adult about themselves and their experiences.
