THE SIX-POINT SCALE
Further information on the 6-point scale can be found on page 33 of How Good is our School? (4th edition). It is recommended that the scale should be read in full before using it. A brief summary is included here for information only.
Excellent – An evaluation of excellent means that this aspect is outstanding and sector-leading.
Very good – An evaluation of very good means there are major strengths in this aspect.
Good – An evaluation of good means there are important strengths yet there remain some aspects which require improvement.
Satisfactory – An evaluation of satisfactory means that strengths just outweigh weaknesses.
Weak – An evaluation of weak means there are important weaknesses.
Unsatisfactory – An evaluation of unsatisfactory means there are major weaknesses which require immediate remedial action.
