North Queensferry Parent Newsletter
Respectful, Ambitious, Determined
Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s been a bit of wet start to term 2 but children have returned to school in good spirits.
Last week’s Halloween Disco was well attended, and children seemed to have fun. We were missing some disco lights though and I wondered if anyone has a set of lights they no longer use and would be happy to donate to the school. Please get in touch if you feel your disco days are over and you have lights to share! Thanks to the Parent Council for organising.
Please find important dates and information.

School Uniform
Wearing school uniform helps us maintain a focus of all working together at North Queensferry. It also helps keep good/casual clothes looking good for longer. We have lots of repurposed school uniform, and some new items including shoes and gym shoes. Please feel free to drop in to have a look.
School uniform items can be purchased at many supermarket stores and badged items such as North Queensferry sweatshirts can be purchased at Embroidered Schoolwear & Clubwear (border-embroideries.co.uk)
Parents
We continue to benefit from parents sharing their skills and knowledge with the children. If you have a skill you would like to share, we would love to hear from you.
Penny Wars
Pupil Voice – Children regularly meet to share their ideas and recently School Council were keen to organise a fun way to raise funds for school. This money could be put towards a school trip or additional activities throughout the school year.
Their idea of Penny Wars is where pupils collect one pence or two pence coins from home. Pupils have shared how lots of us save change at home and this can help children appreciate how a few pence can add up to a substantial amount. With a little healthy competition between classes, we can hopefully raise pounds by saving pennies. If you have coppers to spare, we would appreciate if your child can bring them into school for their class Penny Wars box.
Gym Kit
Please ensure your child has a kit suitable for P.E. t-shirt, leggings, shorts or joggers and suitable footwear is ideal. A hoodie or fleece is a useful additional item of kit as we will go outdoors for P.E. too. If possible, keeping a kit at school helps if, on occasion, we have a change of timetable.
Dress Up/Small World Play
We would welcome any items suitable for dress up e.g., hats, scarves, smaller sized clothing items.
We would also welcome any small world play your child may have outgrown e.g. toy animals, model people, Playmobil or anything similar.
Wider Achievements
We love to hear about your child’s achievements out of school and celebrate their achievements at our weekly assemblies. If your child has recently received an award or been successful in an area of interest out of school e.g., swimming, music, dance etc. and if they are able, your child would be very welcome to share their achievements, awards, medals etc. each Friday.
Nursery
We have a busy term planned, including a trip to Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline on Thursday, 9th November. Please see our dates for Stay and Play detailed at the beginning of the newsletter.
Clothing
As the days get colder and wetter, please ensure your child has appropriate clothing, including wellies to help keep feet dry.
Donations
This term, we welcome £16 donation for nursery. This supports additional opportunities for nursery children including local visits to places of interest such as Pittencrieff Park.
Tissues
As usual, we welcome donations of tissues for little noses.
As always, if you feel there is anything I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me at 01383 602425 or northqueensferryps.headteacher@fife.gov.uk
Kind regards
