Our reflection 10/2/23

This week we started our new writing topic of instructional writing. We were learning how to write detailed recipes. We worked on our creativity skills when writing potion recipes, which we planned carefully before writing. We then self-assessed our recipes, which we will edit next week.
In maths, we were learning about reflection, symmetry and rotation. We were also learning how to tessellate. In numeracy, we continued our learning about fractions through ordering fractions on a number line and converting these to decimals and percentages.
In PE, we had visitors from Active Schools come to teach us badminton skills. We learned how to hold the racquet and serve. We also continued our learning in hockey with Mrs Gaze, with a focus on push passes and the Indian dribble.
Our IDL topic this term is Scotland. This week we learned about the different cities of Scotland and created fact files from the information we learned and also independent research. We also started a series of lessons on coding. Throughout the next few weeks, we will be learning how to use HTML and CSS. This week we learned how to make a birthday card.
A big thank you to Balfour Beatty and Scot Rail for coming in to visit us and teach us all about the different skills and job roles involved in these companies. We were given different briefs about a new planet and brainstormed different ideas to make the planet a sustainable place to live.
