P4B – Miss Stark

Welcome to P4b!

We have had another super busy term! In Literacy we have been learning about lots of ways to make our writing more interesting using techniques we have found authors using in books. We have developed our ability to use alliteration, onomatopoeia, similes and metaphors using our class novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to help us! We have been learning to write persuasively and to write balanced arguments too!

In Numeracy we have been learning about lots of strategies to help us to add and subtract – we all prefer different ways from split and jump to formal. We have then used this knowledge to help us to calculate with money too- adding totals and giving change. More recently we have started to look at fractions and have developed our confidence finding fractions of shapes and numbers.

In Health and Wellbeing we have been discussing different types of bullying behaviour – we have taken part in discussions around what physical bullying, verbal bullying, social bullying and cyber bullying looks like. We have been thinking about our school values of being respectful, kind and safe and thinking about how we can help others and how to get help if we ever need it. We made leaflets to showcase our knowledge to share with the rest of the school.

Aside from Festive Fun our topic this term has been Sound. We have been learning about how sound is created and taken part in lots of experiments to help us to explore sound, for example, using rice on a drum to see the vibrations and making sound cups to consider how sound travels. We even got to take part in a visit to Levenmouth Academy to work with the Red Note Ensemble to explore sound further – we had great fun!

Together We Learn. Together We Achieve.
