P7 ~ Miss Lochery

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been exploring different decades as part of our learning. Pupils have researched and shared their findings using digital tools such as Canva and Adobe, developing both their presentation and digital literacy skills.

We have also been working on letter writing and imaginative writing. Pupils have focused on enhancing their descriptions by adding detail to settings and characters, helping to make their writing more engaging and vivid.

Numeracy and Maths

In Numeracy and Maths, we have been building our confidence across a range of topics. Pupils have been learning about fractions, percentages and decimals, developing their understanding of how these concepts link together.

We have also been strengthening our problem-solving skills by tackling multi-step word problems, encouraging learners to think carefully about strategies and explain their reasoning.

Health and Wellbeing

This term in P.E. with Miss Turner, pupils have participated in a variety of activities, helping to develop their skills, teamwork and overall fitness.

The children also enjoyed taking part in Sports Day. Our Junior Leaders were fantastic throughout the event, supporting the younger children and helping to run the races with confidence and responsibility.

In class, we have continued our learning in Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) and have now completed all topics for this stage. Pupils have taken part in discussions, asked thoughtful questions and shared their understanding with one another in a respectful and supportive environment.

We have also continued to discuss the transition to high school, giving pupils opportunities to explore any worries or concerns they may have and helping them to feel more confident and prepared for this next step.

Other Updates

The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in our Mystery Box Day, where they were able to scaffold their own learning based on the items discovered in the box. This experience encouraged creativity, curiosity and collaboration. Pupils particularly enjoyed exploring characters through drama and worked

effectively as a team to design and create costumes using paper, bringing their characters to life in imaginative and engaging ways.

P7 have been working very hard alongside P6 to rehearse and prepare for their school show. We are sure many of the songs will be stuck in our heads for a long time!

As part of this, pupils have been exploring different decades in more depth to support their understanding and help them design props and backdrops. They have thoroughly enjoyed the creative process, working collaboratively to bring their ideas to life while developing their teamwork and performance skills.

The classroom has certainly seen its fair share of paint, handprints, cardboard and an excessive amount of glitter along the way.
