P4 ~ Miss Ezra

We have focused on developing fluency and expression in reading, as well as enjoying time to talk about what we are reading as a class and individually. With writing we have focused on ‘Diary’ as our text type. We looked at different types of diaries and even explored diary writing through the eyes of someone else (e.g., writing as a character from a story, or a day in the life of a pet). Alongside this we have been working hard on checking our work and upleveling it.

In numeracy we have reviewed a lot of concepts like adding and subtracting large numbers, multiplication and division, using and giving directions, map reading, 3d shape, angles and symmetry.

We have been learning about the human body in our class topic. We have learned about teeth, hearing, vision, digestive system, heart and lungs and the skeleton.

Our class spent the day at Craigtoun Country Park where we got to explore the Fairy Gardens, Play on the Zip Wire, Look at the historical areas and have fun at the park.

The whole school had a pupil takeover with our IDL day. Each class was delivered a box that contained a book and an object and from there it was up to pupils how they wanted to learn. P4 ended up learning about phobias and the torch, and this led to creating a child friendly anti-bullying policy and Arti the Anti-bullying Bear. Everyone came together in the afternoon to share all of their learning.
