P1 ~ Mrs Hamilton

Literacy
We have continued to learn lots of new diagraphs and have enjoyed games to support learning on this. We have been reading practicing high frequency words daily and the progress has been fantastic!  For writing, we have been focussing on story settings and have used adjectives to add lots of details to our descriptions.
Numeracy
We have revisited addition/subtraction strategies ensuring we are confident with calculations. We have been exploring place value to secure our knowledge in how numbers are made and this is helping us to become confident with numbers to 100 finding numbers before/after and in between. We will shortly begin learning about measurement and time.
HWB
We spent some time on athletics ensuring we were ready to perform on Sports day. We have also experienced cricket during PE and will shortly undertake a Karate taster session. We learned about Fairtrade as part of our topic, following the journey of different food items. We have been learning about meta-skills and linking these to tasks we complete in school.
Science
We have been learning about life cycles and absolutely loved watching our caterpillars turn into butterflies! We let them go free into the wild at the park. We planted sunflowers and watched them grow into stems. Hopefully over summer they continue to grow and flower!
Wider Achievements
Well done Heidi who won a trophy for dancing. Ainsley shared her certificate from Highland Dancing and Axl was awarded player of the week at football. Well done all, we love to hear your amazing achievements!
