Literacy-
In p1/2 this term we have focused on writing to create a more in-depth meaningful piece of writing, looking at adjectives and descriptions. We have focused on fairy tales and done lost of character descriptions. Next term we are planning to use this as we start to explore describe the setting of our stories. We have been learning new diagraphs in literacy where we have then focused on using these to help us blend. We have seen a massive improvement in our reading as we are able to decode more words.
Numeracy –
In p1/2 we have done lots of active maths around money and fractions this term. We are all able to confidently use our knowledge of fractions to help us with our work around money. We have also linked our work of fractions to time. We are all confidently able to tell the time of o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. This is something we are going to pick up again in term 4.
HWB –
In p1/2 this term we have had a focus of ‘The Body’. We have explored how we use our bodies and how to stay healthy. We have also looked at the bones and muscles in our bodies. In PE we have been looking at throwing and catching. This has allowed us to improve our skills whilst looking at different meta skills, for example focusing and collaboration.
Other Curricular Areas –
This term we had our school trip to the Art Museum, where we explore the different art pieces looking at texture and inspiration. We carried this on in class as we explore the different ways to create a piece of art through texture, colour, line and tone. We have been very lucky to have weekly sessions with StAMP music. After all our sessions we put on a music concert for our families to showcase lots of different activities and songs we have been learning. We have celebrated lots of success in our class this term as individuals have brought in awards and medals to share with the class. Well Done!
