We’ve had a really busy and fun time in the Yellow Room, with lots of lovely learning happening through play, sensory experiences and being active together.
Literacy, Numeracy and Health & Wellbeing
We have been working on our communication and early literacy skills through lots of interactive activities. The children are building confidence in making choices, taking turns and exploring cause and effect — especially when using technology.
In numeracy, our focus has been “big and small”, with the children exploring size through play and everyday activities. We’ve also been enjoying our counting song “5 Green Bottles” – the children love watching the water pour and seeing the numbers change!
Keeping active has been a big focus for us too. The children have had some fantastic opportunities including:
- Swimming
- Trips to the park
- Horse riding
- Football with Lachlan
- Physical literacy sessions in the PE hall with Mollie
It’s been lovely to see everyone joining in, building confidence and enjoying being active in their own way.
Other Curricular Areas
Our topic this term is “The Beach and the Sea”, which the children have really enjoyed exploring.
We’ve had lots of sensory play with water, boats and sand, giving everyone the chance to explore, splash, pour and play. The class have also worked together to create a beautiful beach scene using different painting and printing techniques.
Technology has been a big part of our learning too. The children have been:
- Using a switch to help make popcorn (a big favourite!)
- Playing counting games on the Smart TV
- Matching colours using the iPad
Through these activities, we’ve seen a lovely increase in the children’s motivation to communicate with adults, with many more attempts to interact, request and share their enjoyment.
We also had a fantastic time at Sports Day. The children all took part in a range of activities including running races, parachute games, scooter boards, throwing into targets and an obstacle course. It was a brilliant day and everyone did so well.
We are so proud of all the children in the Yellow Room and how well they are joining in, trying new things and enjoying their learning.
Thank you so much for your continued support 💛
