Primary 7 have had a great start to the term, filled with excitement, challenge and new learning opportunities.
A large group of pupils enjoyed an unforgettable residential trip to Ardroy, where they pushed themselves, worked together and made the most of the outdoor activities on offer. The children who remained at school also had a brilliant week, taking part in fun activities with Miss Liddle, including bowling and the climbing wall.
Literacy
In literacy, we have been working hard to improve our writing through daily writing tasks and weekly skill focuses. The class have also been exploring persuasive writing, learning how to build arguments for and against different topics. We have begun a new class novel, Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell, which has already sparked lots of enthusiasm and discussion.
Numeracy & Maths
In numeracy and maths, we have been learning how to calculate the perimeter of shapes and how to use formulas to find the area of rectangles and right‑angled triangles. We have also been practising written and mental strategies for addition and subtraction. Our next area of learning will be co-ordinates and symmetry.
Interdisciplinary Learning – Scotland
This term, our interdisciplinary learning has continued to focus on Scotland. Pupils have explored Scottish inventors, mythical creatures, artists and Scots language, helping them develop a deeper understanding of Scotland’s culture, history and creativity.
