Term 1
Primary 2/3 have been exploring the visual element of colour and pattern. We have enjoyed mixing the primary colours to make new colours and exploring how to make colours darker and lighter. We have also been learning about the properties of 2D shape and patterns.
This term enjoyed reading the Elmer stories, exploring colour and patterns. We were inspired by these stories to create our class charter in an elephant.
Our I.D.L topic this term was ‘Our Community’ . We went on local walks around the area looking at the different types of houses and shops in our local area. We then created a collaborative giant map of the street our school is on showing all the local buildings. We then explored jobs in the area and people who help us. We loved having the community police, Fife fighters and nurses come into school to tell us about their jobs.
Term 2
This term the Primary 2’s have been learning all about the first Christmas. We have been developing our drama and musical skills and are excited to be performing the Nativity on stage in the community centre.
Our I.D.L topic this term is toys. We have explored toys from the past and compared them to toys today. We created a ‘toy museum’ and were stunned to one day find that all the toys had left, We wrote letters to toys asking them to come back and created missing posters to hang around the school. Thank fully they have returned!
In French we have been learning the names of food and beginning to use the in a simple phrase, ‘ I like … & I do not like…’ we are now going to turn the museum into a French cafe.
We have had lots of fun exploring measure this term, beginning to measure how long or short objects are in cm and metres. We can’t wait to explore weight.
