Welcome to P1
Term 1
Literacy
We began to learn new sounds. We started to blend these sounds to make words. We started to learn about sentence structure including using finger spaces and full stops when writing.
Maths
We learned the numbers 1 to 10 focusing on one to one correspondence, skip counting and number processes. We learned about addition, measure, data handling and pattern/relationships.
HWB
For our topic, we learned about people that help us. We had a fabulous visit from the community police who told us all about their role. Lots of p1 want to be police officers when they grow up! We also prepared and tasted a healthy snack.
French
P1 can say simple phrases such as ‘Bonjour’ and ‘comment t’appelle tu?’ We learned numbers to 10 and enjoyed singing French songs.
Term 2
Literacy
We are learning to use adjectives to add more detail to our writing. We are using Julie Donaldson as an author focus for tasks such as rhyme, sequencing and likes/dislikes of a text.
We have been visiting the local library weekly and enjoy choosing our own books.
Maths
We have been practicing number bonds, doubles/halves and subtraction. We are also learning about money and time.
Expressive arts
We are putting a lot of work into our nativity performance including singing, dancing and acting! We are also learning to keep beats in music.
