Term 1

Literacy

We have consolidated digraphs from last session and continue learning new phonemes, these have been applied in our writing to help us up level our work. We have been focusing on blending to enhance our reading skills and fluency.

Primary 1 have started learning their initial satpin sounds and looking at blending these together.

Numeracy

We have focused on numbers to 100 looking at odd and even number, skip counting and number processes. We have also looked at data handling and shape through different active maths approaches.

Other

In French we have been learning numbers to 10! Camembear has helped us to learn these through songs and rhymes.

Term 2

Literacy

Primary 1 have been learning new sounds and blending.

Primary 2 have started to focus on sentence structure and adjectives. This term we are having a full class Julia Donaldson focus looking at all her different texts. We have been analysing these, creating characters, ordering stories and looking at questioning.

Numeracy

We are looking at money and time this term. We have been working on counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.

Other

For expressive arts we have been working on rhythm and beats in music and Scottish country dancing in PE. We have enjoyed exploring Artist of the Moment, looking at different styles and art from the past and present.
