Literacy
We have been working hard on our reading and writing skills. We have been learning to read new words and then have been using them in sentences. We are working on holding our pencils correctly to make our writing neat. We have been making and writing sentences using pictures to help us.
We have also been working on our communication skills. Taking turns and communicating with others in different ways such as using our words, our feelings mat, our talkers and by sign along.
We have been learning about alliteration. We have been playing lots of online games on Topmarks and Wordwall. We can give great examples such as “the slimy snake was slithering”
Numeracy
We have been learning to read, write and make different numbers. Some of us have been using tens and ones to count and some of us have been using hundreds, tens and ones, Mrs Barr has challenged some of us to use thousands as well. We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We have been finding them in our environment and then describing their properties for our friends to find the shapes in a shape hunt.
HWB
We have also been developing our learning of different life skills, including hand washing, toothbrushing and road safety and different meta skills. We have shown these skills when going to the dinner hall and assembly. We are joining in with all the songs and then using the skills in our classroom.
We have been working with Derek and Mackenzie from Active Schools to develop our balancing and throwing skills. We recently went to a Boccia tournament where we had lots of fun and all got certificates for our effort.
Other Learning
We have also been enjoying weekly music sessions with Kirstin from Drake Music. She teaches us about different instruments and we have been getting to play along to different songs.
Star Moments
Konnor has worked hard on learning sign along to help him communicate with his friends. He was an assembly star for his hard work.
Millie and Lily recently helped at the Christmas Fayre. They showed excellent manners, communication skills and helped lots of customers.
