Literacy:
P4 have continued developing their tools for writing, reading fluency, comprehension skills, and our text type has been procedural writing. Pupils have written some great procedures on ‘How to wash your hands’, as well as ‘How to have a positive playtime’.
Numeracy:
P4 have been reviewing our number skills (strategies to add, subtract, times, divide). We explored data collection/graphs. When looking at money we explored the history of money, recognising coins and notes, savings plans and bank accounts. We have also looked at fractions, decimals and percentages.
HWB:
Our focus has been choice and change and how we can recognise our skills and abilities and see them in others. We have linked this to meta skills, classroom jobs, and the world of work.
P4 have enjoyed developed our reading culture in our classroom. We enjoyed developing our reading corner which is now called ‘The Book Bubble’ and we are keeping a scrapbook of our reading journey which contains book reviews, redesigned book covers, pupil author work, and artwork inspired by what we have read.
Through our IDL we have also explored STEM projects linked to forces. One of these projects in the photograph is where we looked at air resistance and how we can use that to make a parachute.
We love to explore pupil led learning so when someone discovered a seed in their apple we decided to see if we could grow an apple tree. We now have a three week old seeding!
