P5/6 ~ Miss McAvoy

During Term One, Primary 5/6 have engaged in a wide range of learning across our curriculum areas.
In literacy, we explored various forms of poetry and created our own acrostic poems about ourselves, as well as rhyming couplets inspired by Scotland.
In numeracy, we developed a range of strategies to support our understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Our topic work focused on natural disasters, where we learned about different types of natural disasters and what causes them. We also enjoyed creating our own erupting volcanoes as part of our practical learning.
In Term Two, we moved on to studying newspaper reports, writing our own articles and working towards recording our own news broadcast.
We also performed in a St Andrew’s Day assembly, where we shared our learning with others by presenting our poetry and showcasing a selection of Scottish artwork we produced in class.
