Literacy Update
In P5/6 Literacy, we have been focusing on diary and letter writing. We have explored the structure of diaries and discussed well-known examples such as Anne Frank’s diary and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Key features we have focused on include writing in the first person, expressing opinions and feelings, and ensuring our writing is in the past tense.

We have written diary entries from the perspective of an inanimate object, as well as about our favourite memories. More recently, we have begun learning about direct speech and how to use speech marks correctly in our writing.
Numeracy Update
In P5/6 Numeracy, we have been developing our understanding of division and coordinates. Learners have been using a variety of strategies to solve division problems, including sharing equally and using long division (the bus stop method).

Other Curricular Areas:
Across our wider learning in P5/6, we have been exploring the achievements of Scottish inventors through both History and Science. We have learned about the invention of the telephone and investigated how sound waves travel, helping us to understand how we hear.
