ASC Purple

Welcome to the Purple Room, room 3. The teaching team this year is Mr Davis and Mrs Crawford. Miss Wilson and Mrs Malvenan (Pupil Support Assistants) also assist us. We are all very much looking forward to working with the children.

It is important to us that your child loves learning and coming to school. Over the year, we will use a creative curriculum which is led by their needs to take the children on their learning adventures. We strive to provide exciting experiences through thought-provoking lessons and a co-operative environment. We will support your child in becoming resilient, independent, and confident. Within the classroom and local community children will be provided with the means to communicate effectively and have their voice heard. We love to take on a challenge in the Purple Room and encourage children to use their growth mindset to reach their full potentials. They will experience attainment and achievement through individual target setting. We will experience positive learning opportunities that are relevant, meaningful and enjoyable. We believe mistakes are proof of trying and we encourage this positive thinking in our classroom. Practice makes better!

In Maths, your child will be extending their knowledge of adding, subtracting, and working with larger numbers. They will learn using different methods such as concrete, mark making and formal written methods. Children will learn to name and describe 2D and 3D shapes and measure time, length, and capacity.

In Literacy, your child will be developing their reading and writing skills. They will practise their handwriting each week and we will read a wide range of quality books. At home, reading with your child daily can really support your child’s progress.

In our Topic learning, your child will be exploring a range of subjects including History, Geography, Computing, Music, and Art. The topics that we will cover might include Fairy-tale, Dinosaurs, Human Bodies, the Rainforest, our World of Work etc.

Over this year your child will be introduced to a wide variety of sports and physical activities as well as learning about healthy eating and promoting healthy lifestyles. Monday’s will be our swimming day this academic year. Mr Davis will also be delivering Health & Wellbeing to mainstream classes on Thursday and Friday, meaning that Mrs Crawford will be teaching the class.

Mr Davis will communicate with parent/guardians via Seesaw. We will encourage you to download Seesaw prior to the term starting.

Gym days will be confirmed closer to the time however please note that your children should come to school in gym kit on these days. All children should bring a water bottle each day.

In the Purple room we have high expectations for behaviour and build on our friendships daily. With help from you at home and by following our school values and class charter, we know this year is going to be an amazing one!
