Illness, Allergies and Medication

Allergies and Medication

It is very important that you let nursery staff know about any allergies or medical conditions your child has, e.g.:

  • inhalers for asthma
  • cream for eczema
  • food allergies such as raw egg or a dairy intolerance

We can keep medication in nursery for your child. There will be a form to fill in for you to give us permission to administer the medication. Please note that we cannot give your child the first dose of any new medication, in case they have an allergic reaction.

Guidance around illness:

  • Please do not bring your child to nursery if they are unwell.
  • If your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea they can only return to nursery 48 hours after they are clear.

In nursery:

If your child is involved in a minor accident or injury we will complete a form and ask you to sign this when you collect your child. If your child bumps their head at nursery we will telephone you or an emergency contact to collect your child.
