Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Learning

We encourage our children to use their imagination and creativity by using the outdoor loose parts to make and build. We have a mud kitchen too. Children can develop lots of skills outside, such as climbing, balancing and gardening. After playing outdoors children are actively encouraged to wash their hands.

What are children learning when playing outdoors? Here are just a few examples:

  • How to manage risk
  • How to care for living things.
  • Experience a range of weathers.
  • Creativity and imagination.
  • Co-operation.
  • How to take responsibility for looking after all our resources.

We have the opportunity to play outdoors in our nursery garden in all weathers. Our outdoor garden includes areas of messy play where we can get wet and muddy – even with our wellies and waterproofs on! Please make sure your child always has spare clothes in a bag which are kept in nursery.

We give our children opportunities to explore their local environment, such as the library, cafe, shops and the Post Office. When possible we take groups of children to Lochore Meadows, Vane Farm and the beach.

The £1.00 donation you make every week helps to go towards these opportunities to explore the local community.
