Who Can Help Me?

Talking and thinking about your mental wellbeing is important. In almost all situations the best people to support children’s mental wellbeing, are those closest to them. It is important for all children to have a key trusted adult. This is an adult that they are close to, who can support them, and who they feel comfortable to ask for help. For some children this may be a parent or family members, for others it may be a teacher or an adult in the community e.g. sports coach or a club organiser. Have a think about who this might be in your life, these are some examples.

Parent/ carer       Grandparent       Auntie/ Uncle

Janitor          Teacher       Classroom assistant

Club leader       Sports coach

Have a think about some of these questions, and if possible, ask your key trusted adult to help:

What is happening/ has happened to you for you to feel this way?

What there anything happening in your life right now?

What things make you feel happy?

What could you try doing to help?

Who are the most important people to you?

 How could these people help?

Who can you trust to speak to about this?

Let’s have a look at some activities that can help us feel calm and relaxed. These can be useful to manage big feelings. Why don’t you try some with your key trusted adult? Do they make you feel better?
