Science Week Fun!

It has been another great week in P1C! This week it was Science week and the focus of Science week was growing.

We enjoyed learning about different animals habitat and how some animals live anywhere! We also enjoyed learning about chickens and how they become adults in just 5 months. We learnt lots of great facts about incubators and created our own.

We also had great fun making seed bombs, it was super messy but we can’t wait to plant them!

We also measured each other and measured our height against different things in our room which was great fun!

We had great fun in PE where we practice our great gross motor skills.

Healthy Eating, Sports Acro and More!

We have had another busy week in P1C! This week we have been learning about healthy eating and the five different food groups that contribute to a balanced diet. We worked really hard to sort out different items of food into the correct food group.

We have also been learning about how we keep our body healthy and created great posters showing how we keep healthy. Miss Regan forgot how to wash her hands so we wrote our own hand washing instructions to help!

We have also been working hard on our sounds, common words and rhyming words.

We have been exploring 3D shapes working hard to identify 3D shapes in our environment and name each 3D shape. We have also been looking at how many faces and corners different 3D shapes have.

In PE, we continued to work on our defending skills. We also had great fun learning about sports-acro gymnastics and enjoyed trying different partner balances, you can tell from our smiley faces how much fun we had!

Our outdoor cafe was back open for business with new delicious food on the menu! We also found a great new hiding spot outside, we wonder if you can spot us?

Book Fun in P1C!

We have had a great week celebrating world book day in P1C!

We have enjoyed taking part in a wide range of activities to celebrate all things books. We created our own front covers for our favourite books outside and inside. We also enjoyed completing a book scavenger hunt were we had to look for different items in lots of books and we also enjoyed writing great stories imagining that we had stepped into our favourite books. We think you would be so impressed with our amazing stories! We also had a wonderful time at our teddy bear picnic eating yummy snacks and sharing great stories.

This week, we have also been learning about healthy and unhealthy food and enjoyed creating our own healthy and unhealthy food posters.

It was very busy in our outdoor kitchen this week! We had mud pies, hot chocolate and  mud chips on the menu and we also decided that our cafe need a makeover so we decided to give it a paint.

In PE, we have been working hard on our defending skills and enjoyed playing different games to develop our defending.

It was lovely having the chance to speak with you all and seeing your faces at our online appointments this week. It was so nice to be able to share just how well the pupils are progressing and how proud I am of each and every one of them.

A Great Week in P1C!

We had so much fun out in the snow making our class snowman, having snowball fights and making snow angels.

We have been working hard on addition and subtraction calculations this week and are continuing to explore the link between the two.

Our writing task this week was to imagine we were flying in a bubble like the girl in the story – the children chose such a vast range of places that they would like to visit.

For Mother Tongue Week, we enjoyed learning different ways to say hello and creating bunting to decorate the school. We also worked so hard to learn twinkle twinkle in British sign language.

Our construction area has been very popular this week and I think we will have many future architects. We have had castles, hotels and space rockets! It has been amazing to see all the super models and they have sparked great discussion.

A Great Week in P1C!

This week we decided we wanted to learn about different transport. We looked at how we can travel different ways and compared vehicles from the past and present. We had great fun making our own modes of transport outside and in our construction area. We had amazing things like space rockets, flying scooters and lightening speed super jets!

This week we also enjoyed making our own 3D models. We looked at the different ways we join things to together to create our model.

In Maths, we are continuing to work on our number bonds to 10 and our fact families for our addition and subtraction calculations.

Supertato in P1C!

Our story of the week was Supertato by Sue Hendra and there had been a Supertato incident in our classroom and we had to put on our detective hats and work out what had happened to Supertato and the vegetables. We also enjoyed creating our own Supertato and a new front cover for the book.

We then used our super veggies and supertato to create some artwork!

We have been working hard creating our own surveys and creating our own bar graph and class bar graph to help develop our data handling skills.

We are continuing to develop our digital technology skills and enjoyed using the bee-bots and mats to direct the bee-bot to a certain location.

Tartan and Time in P1C!

This week we have been learning about time. We have been working hard to arrange the days, months and season in order and identify o’clock on analogue and digital clocks. We enjoyed exploring a range of activities to help us learn about time.

We have also been working hard on our number bonds and we are getting really fast at identifying number bonds for different numbers.

We have been looking at different artists and the techniques they use to create their paintings. We created our own Steven Brown themed under the sea art work, we think they look amazing!

This week, we also learnt about burns day. We enjoyed creating our own class tartan on the computer and creating our own tartan patterns outside using chalks.

In dance, we continued to look at the different ways we can move our body. We loved creating spikey and smooth shapes to help create our conkers themed dance.

P1C’s Weekly Adventures!

This week we enjoyed reading the Three Little Pigs. We enjoyed making each pigs house and creating our own story maps for the story of the three little pigs.

This term, we are learning to move our bodies through dance. Today we moved our bodies in different ways thinking of wide, thin, high and low shapes that we could practice and move a streamer through the air. There were some very impressive moves on show.

Outdoor we explored symmetry, finding symmetry in nature and creating our own symmetrical pictures using lots of different items. They were very impressive!

This week we have been learning about animals that live under the sea. We made our own sea and we had lots of fun but we didn’t love that it turned our hands blue! We created our own under the sea pictures and took great care making sure we added lots of detail to our pictures.

We also learnt about different animals habitat and enjoyed sorting animals into the correct habitat.

In PE we have been working on our movement and controlling objects, we have also been enjoying playing different team games.

 

Bee-Bot fun in P1C!

We have had another busy week in P1C! We have been busy working hard on our programming skills and we enjoyed learning how to use our knowledge of direction to programme the bee-bots. We had to direct our bee-bots to different spots on our carpets and we had great fun creating challenges for our friends to try.

We read the book ‘It’s Your World Now’ by Barry Falls and enjoyed writing and drawing what we would like to be when we grow up. We have lots of future gamers, police officer, doctors and teachers in P1C!

We have also been working hard creating lots of rhyming word banks to help us with our writing.

In Numeracy and Maths, we learnt about symmetry and created our own amazing symmetrical pictures using loose parts. We had to make sure that they were the exact same on each side. We also used paint to create symmetrical butterflies.

We have also been learning about doubles and have been doing lots of different activities to help consolidate our knowledge of doubles.

We have been enjoying learning about woodland animals this week. We learnt about the different animals that live in the woodlands and their habitats. We selected a woodland animal and made them a new home in our construction area, we think they would love their new homes! We also went on a woodland animal hunt outdoors.

This week we also enjoyed creating models using peas and sticks. Our creations were so complex and amazing!

We have also been enjoying our new and improved library area which has led to lots of lovely discussion and story telling.

Snow Fun in P1C!

It has been so lovely to welcome the boys and girls back after the holiday. We have had a great week with our highlights being, exploring in the snow and meeting Mrs Grieve, who has taken over on Thursdays from Miss Faull.

We enjoyed writing about our holidays, we made sure to add lots of detail to our drawing so that it could tell our story. It was so lovely to hear everyone holiday adventures. We have also been doing lots of activities to help us with our common words and our sounds.

We were so excited that it was snowing and loved getting to explore in the snow creating HUGE snowballs, snowmen and snow angels!

We decided that we want to learn about animals and we have been learning the names of animals in French. We had great fun creating our own animal puppets.
