Sally from the Scottish SPCA came to talk to the boys and girls today about the dangers of feeding your pets chocolate and sweets and Christmas time. The foods are poisonous to your pets and should NOT be given to your pets as a treat.
Sally talked to us about looking after a pet and how it is not ideal to give someone an animal as a present at Christmas. There are many unwanted animals who end up at the SSPCA as their owners realise they might not have the time or energy to look after them once the excitement of Christmas is over. Pets are hard work and require a lot of time, effort and money if they are to be looked after properly. Sally also spoke to us about what we should do if we see a animal in distress. We should NOT attempt to save an animal ourselves. Instead, we should leave it alone and tell an adult as soon as possible. The adult should then call 03000 999 999 and a trained SSPCA officer will come and deal with the animal.
