P6/7  have been learning about poetry and we linked it to our right of the month. Lots of authors around the world participated in an event organised by UNICEF called tiny stories so we decided to take part too. We wrote a poem about what we want for every child, all of them were very good but Alexander Street’s (P6) stood out.

What I want for every child  By Alexander Street

I want every child to

have a home with lots of room

to play in.

I want every child to

be able to look into the eyes

of a loving parent or guardian.

I want every child to

wake up and hear birds singing

instead of gunshots.

I want every child to

run away from a chaser

instead of their home.

I want every child to

have a full meal

instead of the remains of one.
