Congratulations to Marcie George in S6 who won the Eastwood District Young Singer of the Year. Marcie performed alongside other pupils in the authority and gave a fantastic performance in front of an audience of parents, staff and pupils.
Marcie now goes on to represent the District at the next stage of the competition at the Royal Conservatoire.
Congratulations also go to Ivy Ng who gave an outstanding performance on Piano in the Young Musician competition.
There will soon be an opening on the Percussion timetable for lessons.
Any pupil in S1 and S2 who would be interested in auditioning should give their name ASAP to their music teacher.
Once we have a list of names more details will be given about auditions.
After our first successful rehearsal we have decided to continue with this new music group. We are still looking for a few more players to help make a bigger sound so any STRING, WOODWIND, BRASS players who would like to join are more than welcome. Please come and give it a try!
Rehearsals are Tuesday after school in room C3 until 4.30pm
Miss Borland
The RSNO Takeover is a two-day intensive work experience, open to 16 to 18 year olds interested in a career in the arts or creative industries, regardless of whether you play a musical instrument or not.
You will work in various departments of the Orchestra to produce a public concert at the end of the two-day event.
Opportunities will exist in arts marketing, press and PR, development (fundraising), learning and engagement, conducting and performing as a musician.
There are still a few places remaining for 2015 but the closing date for applications is THIS FRIDAY – 9th JANUARY!
Please see Miss Borland urgently if you are interested
New members welcome to the junior (S1-S3) and senior (S4-S6) vocal groups.
If you are interested in joining please see Miss Evans or Mr Baillie in the music department or alternatively come along to the music department on a Tuesday lunch (junior) or Wednesday lunch (senior) to join in.
You will never be asked to sing alone or audition so why not give it a go?
Miss Borland would like to form a School Orchestra. There has not been an orchestra in the school for a number of years and it would be great to bring together string, woodwind, brass and percussion players and play some of the orchestral music we have.
If you are interested being part of this new music group please speak to Miss Borland asap.
Sign up sheets also in the music department.
