You’ve Bought the Balloon. Now See it Set Off on its Journey!
The release of the balloons for the Mearns Castle High School annual Balloon Race will take place on Friday 25th Nov at the top of the steps behind the school at 12.45pm.
If you have bought a ticket then come wish your balloon well as it sets off on its journey into the unknown! Even if you haven’t bought a ticket, come take part in the Big Countdown and then watch the awesome sight of 500 balloons being released into the sky.
Remember if your Balloon is found furthest from the school it will be you that is flying “Up, Up and Away” with 2 return tickets to one of the fantastic destinations courtesy of British Airways.
Congratulations and Gold Stars all round to the pupils involved in the Young Enterprise Group Mini Sales Event at S5/6 parents evening. A last minute decision to proceed with the sales event without promotional materials resulted in an outstanding success. Excellent work by some dedicated pupils
A very big thank you to everyone in the school for contributing to a very successful Charities Week. The total raised at this point is £5,400, which is well up on the figure at this time last year, so well done to everyone!
We now finish off our fundraising activities with ‘Look Back in Laughter’ – the evening shows which feature a selection of the acts from the Charities Week lunchtime shows. The two Look Back in Laughter shows take place next Monday and Tuesday evenings (Monday 21st Nov and Tues 22nd Nov) from 7.30pm until 9.45pm and friends, relations, mums, dads, aunties and uncles are all welcome. Tickets cost £3 each and are on sale all this week at lunchtimes in the Open Area. As ever, tickets will only be sold to pupils who are ‘on colour’.
Tickets for the Great Balloon Race and the Golden Ticket raffle will be on sale up until the Tuesday of Look Back in Laughter. These tickets will also be on sale at lunchtimes in the Open Area every day this week.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the final day for online payments to be received. Please ensure you have paid online and don’t forget to return your orange or yellow consent form.
All pupils who auditioned for the school show should report to C3 Music at 3.20 pm today. The show dates have been changed therefore any other pupil who would like to take part in an amazing show should also report to Music Room C3.
The panto trip this year at the SECC stars John Barrowman and the Krankies in what is sure to be a fun-filled afternoon of entertainment in that well known story . . . “Robinson Crusoe”
Charities Week begins next Monday (31st October). The usual range of activities will be on offer, as well as a few surprises. Details of the activities are displayed on the many posters around the school and in the special handouts which will be distributed during lunchtimes this week in the Open Area and the Dining Hall.
Tickets for the lunchtime shows are on sale every day this week in the Open Area during lunchtimes. Price is £1.50 per ticket. Please note that only pupils who are ‘On Colour’ may purchase tickets. You are advised to buy your tickets early in the week as they sell very quickly. Details of the acts for each of the shows are on display on the notice board beside the Theatre.
