Upcoming staff changes

Zoe would like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ for all the best wishes, cards and tokens of appreciation she was given on Thursday. Zoe had a lovely last day at IMFC and we all wish her the very best for the future.

On Monday we welcome Miss Fay Hunter to the Cara playroom. Fay will become key worker to the yellow group until such time as the permanent position is filled following interviews on 15th December.

Miss Linsay Thomson, current key worker to the red group was delighted to be informed we are now able to maintain her temporary position until July 2016. This means Linsay will stay as key worker to the red group until the end of term.

In addition, we are thrilled that we have been informed of an short term budget becoming available, enabling us to recruit two additional CDOs. Lorraine Kerr and Colette Graham will begin their new posts within the FC on Monday. Colette is well known within the centre as she was our Modern Apprentice previously and continued in role of wraparound assistant. Lorraine comes to us from Isobel Mair School we are delighted to welcome both.

If you have any questions about the staffing changes please speak to Donna Aileen or your child’s key worker.

Sunny Weather Alert

Hooray….the sun has decided to put in an appearance at long last…..long may the sun shine!

Sadly, many children arrived at nursery this morning without sun cream applied and without sun hats.

Parents are responsible for their child’s care in the sun – we are happy to ‘top up’ children’s sun lotion as required when they attend on an extended day service however parents must apply sun cream before their child attends during the summer weeks.

Special Treat!

Some parents have asked about the previously planned Family Centre end of term trip (as noted on our Annual Dates for your Diary Planner given out in September 2014.)

The trips this year have unfortunately not came into fruition – the planning and costs involved have just been too extensive.

Instead – we have spoken to the children about what they would like and it has now been organised for a special treat to take place this Friday 12th June. Animal Man from Mini Zoo will be coming along to the Family Centre. Check out the website for more information:

Photos to follow!

We will ensure a rigorous hand washing approach, as will Animal Man!

Useful Travel Information

One of our parent’s has passed on this useful information.

There are also a small quantity of leaflets available in the foyer or you can access the info by clicking on the following link:

The parent who provided the information has also informed us that she has decided to invest in a Crelling Harness for her child’s journey abroad this summer. The harness has cost £115.00. Helen has asked that I let other parents know that they can borrow the harness if they need one for their holidays.

Thank you to Helen for the kind offer. If anyone is interested in a ‘wee borrow’ just let me know,

Donna

Enterprise Event

Children will be hosting their Enterprise Event on Friday 5th June.

Please support your child and help celebrate their achievements by coming along to this event.

Children learn many skills through participating in enterprising learning experiences. This event has stemmed from children’s interest and has progressed naturally through the planning stages, to design and production.

Our educational enterprise learning has:

  • provided opportunities for children to think and act in enterprising ways
  • provided a clear focus on core and employability skills, and the ability to transfer these to different contexts, in particular the world of work
  • provide opportunities for work-related experiences, both in and outwith the playroom
  • adopted an enterprising approach to learning and teaching
  • promoted positive attitudes
  • provided opportunities for children to develop skills such as problem solving, decision making and evaluating risks
  • provided entrepreneurial experiences.

Our children can’t wait to share their learning with you – please pop along on Friday 5th June!

Photo Magic

Brian and Morag McCormick from Photo Magic will be visiting Isobel Mair Family Centre on Wednesday 6th May to take photographs of your child(ren).

Photo Magic is a fun, family friendly mobile photographic studio specialising in children’s and families’ portraits. Photo Magic have put together a special package for IMFC which includes a variety of photos at a cost of £27.00. A contribution is also made to the Family Centre Toy Fund.

Parents are under no obligation to purchase the portraits. If you do not wish to make a purchase – just let Donna know.

We ask parents not to remove the photos from the Family Centre until payment has been made.

Please note: it is preferable if the children did not wear white or very pale colours. Stronger colours produce much more vibrant results against the white background used.
