Experiential Event, Blind Children Uk

Parents /CarersPlease read below and contact if you are interested.

My name is Carol and I am a Habilitation Specialist with Blind Children UK (part of the Guide Dogs Family) covering the West of Scotland. Blind Children UK works together with Guide Dogs to open up the world for children and young people aged 0-25 years with sight loss.

I would like to invite parents of children and young people with sight loss to participate in a short questionnaire on an experiential event at our Hamilton office by completing the enclosed form.

This questionnaire will help to plan an experiential day that will meet the expectations of both the children and young people and their families. Our aim is to extend the knowledge of our Guide Dogs services, while getting involved in some hands-on activities.

Thank you in advance for your participation. If you have questions, please contact me at 08453727436 or

History of Newton Mearns

Newton Mearns Through Time

Looking for a Christma gift, then read below.

A new pictorial book NEWTON MEARNS THROUGH TIME is now on general sale.

Written by Graeme Smith and Anne Robertson, with much of the new photography assisted by Queen’s Park Camera Club members Mike McCreery and Eddie Horn, the book with over 180 photographs, mainly in colour, is published by Amberley Publishing.

All royalties are being donated to the Isobel Mair School.

The authors will be at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 29th November to sell copies at the discounted price of £10 per copy.  Each book sold  will mean a saving of £5 on the retail cost for the purchasers and another £2.50 for the school funds.

Be a hero for the day, Children in Need!

BE A HERO

Next Friday (14th November) we are participating in the annual Children In Need fundraising event.

This year’s theme is “Be A Hero!”

Pupils are invited to dress up as their favourite hero for the day (This could be a superhero or their favourite idol etc.)

We will be celebrating Children In Need with events throughout the day culminating in a whole school assembly in the afternoon.

Pupils are asked to bring in a minimum of £1 donation for dressing up and taking part in the activities.

Thank You
