P1 Transitions

Our P1 transitions from the Isobel Mair Family Centre  have started. Social stories have been distributed to prepare the children for class visits and other resource areas.

Everyone had great fun exploring the adventure & sensory room and then a visit to the class to meet some new friends.

Cassie visits IMS

Thank you to Cassie, one of our Isobel Mair School  graduates who visited the Thursday ISS@IMS group this afternoon.

Cassie chatted to the students about how she has completed supported colleges courses and is now  on a fulltime beauty course.
She discussed what it’s like to be at college and the great support she got from staff and friends.

She offered beauty treatments to the girls and they were all delighted with their manicures.

Waste Week

Isobel Mair School  is taking part in Waste week, where pupils & staff will be encouraged to think about recycling & re-using materials in different ways and then design something for the “Upcycling Competition 2017” organised by classes Lewis and Sanda.

All the entries will be displayed at the whole school assembly on Friday 3rd February and the winning entries will be on display at the Parents Evening on Monday 6th February.

Holocaust Memorial day

Today we welcomed Carol Gillespie, HMDT National Support Worker, Scotland as we marked Holocaust memorial Day.

This year Carol arranged for our visitor Saskia Tepe to  share her story to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

Saskia has written a book about her mother’s remarkable story  as she survived the holocaust and shared a question and answer session with some of our senior pupils before lighting the Holocaust Memorial Candle.
