Managing Challenging Behaviour

A short video,  what behaviours might mean and how to reduce them from the Educational Psychology Service.

The last weeks and months have been difficult and we know that this has resulted in many of our children and young people showing behaviours that can be challenging. Our Educational Psychology Service created this short video with some tips on what they might mean and how to reduce them.

Parent Portal

East Renfrewshire Council have developed  the new Parent Portal to transform communications between parents/carers and schools.

You can access via the links at the side of main school website page  or on the pull down link on Parents Tab.

By using digital technology, we can replace the traditional ‘schoolbag run’ while also reducing paper transactions and the administrative burden on schools. This will help to support both pupils, parents and schools during the challenging times that Covid-19 has brought to us all.

Parentsportal.scot will provide access to a suite of online services, initially including information about:

  • a child’s education such as the school calendar and events
  • access to your secondary child’s timetable
  • access to your child’s attendance
  • completion of the annual data check online.

It will allow you to update your own details as well as your linked child’s details at any time.

Outdoor Classroom Day

Outdoor learning is important for the development of all children.

Click on the link for some ideas to promote learning outdoors.

• Learning outside the classroom supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles by offering children opportunities for physical activity, freedom and movement, and promoting a sense of well-being.

• Learning outside the classroom gives children contact with the natural world and offers them experiences that are
unique to outdoors, such as direct contact with the weather and the seasons.

• Playing and learning outside also helps children to understand and respect nature and the environment.

• Outdoor play also supports children’s problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich
opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness and resourcefulness.
