Creative Writing in Class Staffa

Class Staffa used PODD  books  during creative writing  and story telling activity this morning.

Each pupil had to choose a character, animal, problem, how to fix it and how do they feel.
With support from class staff they were able to compose a story and then write it down.

Everyone listened to Mrs McEwan as she read out all the stories.

Introduction to PECS

This morning some our new parents of P1 pupils attended an introduction to PECS workshop. This was supported by Mrs Simpson and Miss McKay who are our PECS champions in the school.

We will be holding monthly workshops and will update you very soon with dates.

AAC@IMS Communication Club

Discovering Autism

Discovering Autism: Communication in all its forms.

An “apps and autism event ” powered by Tobii Dynavox

This event is for anyone working/caring for people on the Autistic Spectrum including parents, carers, teachers, pupil
support assistants and Speech and Language Therapists.

AAC@IMS Communication Club

AAC Communication Club will take place on Thursday from 7-8pm.

The topic this week from Tracey Campbell is Reading and Communication :-

  • Why is literacy so important
    • Brief mention of the four blocks
    • Books to interest all
    • Shared reading and how to do it (Put a CROWD in the CAR)

This is the 3rd week of the club and lots of ideas have been shared. Come along and share ideas and resources with other parents and staff.
