Easter Service

Spring into Easter

Thank you to everyone who came to our Easter service this morning.

The singing was wonderful and we all loved the Easter song from the Family Centre children.

After the Easter story, all the children were invited by Rev Roddick to place a flower on the Easter cross.

Class Staffa looked splendid in their Easter bonnets which they decorated in class.

A huge thank you to Olivia and Amy who performed the welcome and school song using makaton.

SQA Verification

sqaWe recently had a visit from SQA as part of the External Verification for National Qualifications that take place within the school.

We are delighted to share with you part of the excellent report.

Part 7

Good Practice

Please provide examples of good practice witnessed during the Verification activity.

The centres’ presentation of materials was excellent. Staff had developed teaching materials of a very high standard to meet candidates’ needs. All activities recorded were exciting and motivating for candidates.

In many cases the candidate was able to achieve more than was being asked in certain units – the centre will review this next session.

The Practical Craft Skills unit was also delivered in a very innovative and holistic way which encompassed most of the school!

Outdoor Learning

Bug Hunting @ IMS

Today we are joined by Joanne from the Open Air Laboratories who has come into school to run sessions with our pupils, about insects within our vast school grounds.

Primary classes will be putting on their raincoats and welly boots  to explore the grounds to see what bugs they can find and then hopefully match the bugs to charts.

The senior classes will be learning about worms and their habitats.

Art Work

Sensory Story

The Smartest Giant in Town

Class Arran & Bute enjoyed a sensory story today, The Smartest Giant in Town. Thank you to our volunteer Phil who played the part of George.

The class also made some crowns and ties for the story and they invited their friends from class Bute to come and join in.

Looks like everyone enjoyed the sensory experience.

Isobel Mair Science Team 2015  would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of the pupils, teaching staff and parents who took part in science week. Our fair was amazing- and involved every class in school.

We would also like to thank the staff from Glasgow University, Strathclyde University and Eastwood High School for hosting workshops all week for the children. We’ve had a mobile planetarium, light diffraction glasses and we’ve even made poo in a bucket!
