school travel survey

The Council are seeking your input into school travel issues in the area and would like you to complete a very quick online survey and add comments to an interactive map.

https://erschoolssurvey.commonplace.is/

There is also a section for pupils if you wish to assist your child in completing a survey.  There will be opportunities in school soon for discussion and debate on road safety and active travel choices, along with a chance for the children to complete the survey.

Finally, there is a section for anyone in the wider community to complete, therefore you may wish to promote this further yourself.

If you have school travel concerns, this is an excellent forum to voice them!

Giffnock Primary Parent Council

Pre-loved school uniform

In an effort to support all families the Parent Council would like to introduce a system to re-use “pre-loved uniform”.  At the end of the school day on a Friday (starting on Friday 31st May and weekly thereafter until the end of term) we will arrange for a rail of uniform items to be available at the “Ramp Entrance” to the school.  Parent / carers are invited to help themselves to the items of pre-loved school clothing.  There is no charge for the clothing, instead we ask that you donate any items of clean school uniform that you no longer need as and when they become available.  A box will also be available on a Friday in this area for your donations.

We hope that this will continue to support all families with the cost of school uniforms alongside the other options that you are already aware of; brand new uniform through Schoolwear Made Easy (www.schoolwearmadeeasy.com) and nearly new uniform through Apparelxchange (www.apparelxchange.co.uk).

Parent Council Meeting – February Agenda

Christmas Fayre

Preparations are nearly complete and we are looking forward to welcoming you all to our annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday 24th November 2018.

Again we would invite pupils to wear something ‘festive’ on Friday 23rd November and our amazing class teachers will be collecting voluntary donations for our Red Stall that day.

All donations are very much appreciated but your help is also necessary to ensure these events continue to run. If you are able to spare some time on the 24th between 12 and 3 pm then please contact us at giffnockpc@hotmail.co.uk.

All money raised goes towards every child in the school.

Many thanks.

Parent council Christmas fayre

The Parent Council is looking forward to welcoming you to your Christmas Fair on Saturday, 24th November from 12-3pm and we need your help in order to make this event a huge success!  The more you raise, the more equipment, books and technology the school can buy.

You can help us in the following ways:

  • donations of toys, books or teddies that are looking for a new home
  • an item for the Christmas hampers

This year each class will create a festive hamper that will be raffled off at the Fair and we need your help.  Please remember items must be non-perishable food items and any alcohol will need to be handed to the Parent Council hub – see below – as pupils can’t bring alcohol to school.

The Parent Council hub will collect ALL donations in the playground on Thursday, 8th, Friday 9th &  Monday, 12th November at school drop off and collection times or sent in school bags (non-alcoholic).

Raffle tickets will be sent home with your child shortly for sale. Please sell as many as you can!

If you can help out on the day, please email giffnockpc@homail.co.uk and we’ll get in touch.

Please follow us on Facebook and twitter for further information on the Fayre and other community events and thanks again for your continued support.

Pumpkin pandemonium

PUMPKIN PANDEMONIUM!

The Parent Council are hosting an afternoon of spooky fun in the blue hall on Friday 26th October from 3pm – if you’re popping into the Community Café, come in and see us for some Halloween fun and games – prizes to be won!

Remember and bring £1 to school on that day for crazy/spooky hair day! Best crazy/spooky hair on the day wins a prize! All funds raised will go towards funding activities and equipment for the children at Giffnock Primary School.

Here’s a taster of what we will have on the day…………

Slime factory – make your own gooey slime to take home with you! Yeuch……

Bring in your carved pumpkins for “The Best Carved Pumpkin” competition – the scarier the better.

Guess the number of Spooky Spiders in the jar.

Good old fashioned “dooking for apples”.

Guess the name of the witches pet for the chance to win her pet – a life sized cuddly version of it.

A “Spooky Stories” area with a chance to blind feel spooky items………

Halloween would not be complete without having a “Party Piece” – tell us your best joke, sing a song or even dance – whatever you want – prize for the best on the day!

Bob a Job event

We are delighted to announce that we have raised a grand total of £892.60 during our recent Bob-a-Job event.  We would like to thank all pupils for working so hard and parents for paying very generously. Between this and the money donated at our Crazy Hair/Hat Day the great news is that we have now raised enough to pay for the playground repairs. Once again, thank you for your continued support.

Regards

Bob A Job Fundraiser

As you know, the Parent Council Fundraising Committee are holding separate events to raise money for playground repairs. For this event, we thought you might like a little help around the house/garden and your child/children are invited to take part in our bob-a-job event. Examples of ways they can help are by washing dishes, making the beds, washing your car, tidying their room, setting the table, helping in the garden, hoovering or anything else you think they could do. So, sit back, relax and please pay generously!
