Week beginning 12th December

This week was the turn of the second half of our class to showcase their gastronomy learning. Unfortunately our invited guests, the director and head chef of G41 in Shawlands had to cancel at the last minute due to weather…..but the guests who filled in for them were delighted at the cancellation! I am sure you’ll agree the food looks incredible and according to the guest, tasted wonderful too.

We had visitors from Calderwood Lodge Primary on Wesdnesdayvmorning who told us a bit about Judaism and the celebration on Hanukkah.

One of the things we focused on this week in literacy was identifying parts of a sentence. We used some cards to make silly sentences then identified the subject and predicate in each of them. Working together like this was a lot more fun and interesting than simply writing things out in our jotters!

Hand washing Soaperheroes

This week we had a chance to check how important it is to wash our hands properly.  After rubbing some Bug Lotion on our hands, we have checked how germs would spread- our hands glowed under the UV light. We then split into two groups to test what is more effective: washing hands with soap and water or hand sanitising. The results were clear… Wash your hands with soap and water whenever possible.

20th March 2020

Today the school is closing earlier than planned.

We will be sad to leave our class, school and friends.

We didn’t want the school to close.

We hope it opens again soon so we can see our friends again soon.

To do our class work, we will be using  Google Classroom at home. We will be doing some activities as well to help our learning. At home we will have lots of family time. Our teacher has given us home learning packs to help us at home.

We are very sad but we wish everybody a good time at home and hope to see everyone soon!

Over the past week primary 4.20 have been learning all about The Vikings. They completed lots of work around where the vikings came from, where they invaded and how they got there.

This led to really interesting discussions and all the class really wanted to design their own longboat.

Chinese New Year assembly and Open Morning

Primary 4.20 had a fantastic time this week performing their assembly and hosting their open morning for the adults.

It was a great morning with the children showcasing all they had been learning about Chinese New Year. The stations included expressive arts with the children teaching the adults how to make paper dragons and lanterns. A technologies station featuring all the PowerPoints the children had made. A station linked to health and well-being focused on Chinese tea tasting. Another station featuring posters the children had made and lastly a station on mandarin writing which links to our one plus two programme.

The showcase was all child planned and led by the pupils. It was fantastic to see so many adults attending and lots of learning and parental engagement was involved

!

A huge thanks to everyone who attended it was a great day and big achievement for primary 4.20!
