The boys were successful learners and responsible citizens this morning. As part of health and well-being we are looking at caring for others. Today we got the babies out for a bath. The boys were very careful and cleaned and dressed the babies ready to be returned to the conservatory.
SNOW DAY!
The Sunflower boys and staff had a great time in the snow this morning. Our playground was a perfect place to stamp in the crisp white snow and have fun on a sledge. All of them had a go and absolutely loved it! Smiles all round!
FAOL SCIENCE
We all read the story “The Gingerbread Man” and then took lots of little gingerbread men to complete some experiments. We put the gingerbread men into different bowls of liquids and materials. We all observed what happened to the gingerbread men when he fell into different substances. Some of the boys were able to tell us what happening to the gingerbread men in the different substances.
FAOL Winter walk
We all went in a winter walk around the Kay park. It was very cold and some of the pond had frozen over. The ducks, swans and birds were all walking on the ice. We touched the frost on top of the wooden fence.
Some of use looked at the talking clipboard to complete a winter walk checklist, marking what they saw. We even used binoculars to see further.
SCIENCE – ice fun
On Thursday we had lots of fun with ice. We enjoyed rolling the balls of ice across the tuft tray. We were trying to melt the ice by warming it up in our hands. We even borrowed the kettle. We watched the steam come out and then Miss Hill poured it over the ice and watched the ice pieces get a little smaller.
FAOL Tartan Paint!
The boys in the Sunflowers class have been learning about Robert Burns. The children visited the art room where they created their own ‘tartan paint’ using two different techniques. The first technique was to roll the colours out and the second was to scrape the colour.
The boys then used the tartan prints to make models of themselves and presented these to their peers!
Excellent work from these super successful learners.
Cookery
We have had a busy week back at school. The Sunflower boys have enjoyed doing lots of different activities. On Thursday we made French toast. We had to crack the eggs into the bowl and then use to whisk to whisk up the egg. Some of the boys even helped to flip the French toast in the frying pan. Most of us tried our finished product.
The Sunflower boys have been amazing this week. They performed in the nativity on Tuesday. We enjoyed our Christmas party on Wednesday and really liked the special visit from Santa.
We have also been having lots of fun with our class neighbours the Daisies and doing lots of Christmas crafts and activities with them.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
